After my evening meltdown

I actually didn't have a bad day at all. I commented to the boss about two pieces of work in that I actually feel like I might be getting a handle on this family law business. She wasn't unpleasant and I even made her laugh once.
My mood started to sink during my half-mile walk to the bus. I put in my iPod headphones but Corvus Corax wasn't doing it for me and I turned for the 1970s comfort of Steely Dan. Then there was a fight on the bus (it was at the front, I was at the very back so I didn't see it) which stopped the bus for a while while cops were called.
I came home and since Steve was at his office, called my mom after I'd taken a shower and had a meltdown at her. Mei-Mei was acting listless (or so I thought) and there are lots of other things on my mind. I told her I'd rather have my meltdown at her than when Steve came home since he deserves a calm household on his return from work.
He came home and we blood tested the cat. It was high, 24 hours after her shot, but still not as bad as it was last night. I think we're just going to keep giving her one unit of insulin in the evening until she sees the vet Monday. I also gave her some glucosamine, which might not do anything for the blood sugar per se, but if this is being aggravated by her arthritis, it might do more good than anything else. Certainly when DADDY came home and she noticed the chicken breast on my plate, she suddenly made a 180 and became all bouncy and happy. She's all about her daddy, we've discovered.
Drill this weekend, so that should also give me a diversion, if only one into BOREDOM! Ah well, SGT G is going to be off to OCS soon and I'm taking his place, so I'll be spending a lot of time learning what he does. SGT E isn't MOSQ, and I don't know when she will be. I'm double-slotted for promotion, whatever that means.

Date: 2008-12-05 05:59 am (UTC)If Mei-Mei's arthritis is flaring up that could account for the spike is blood sugar as you mentioned. You mentioned about testing in her ear ... how do you do that?

Date: 2008-12-05 02:53 pm (UTC)I had to move to the back of the bus yesterday because a little old lady was trying to use a transfer from 6 am at 2 pm and clearly (in my view, anyway) playing dumb. I just couldn't listen to her. I don't think she ever paid, just managed to argue long enough that the bus arrived at her destination.

Christmas deserves to be murdered. Bloodily and without guilt. NEVER my favourite time of year.
