I recently found out that "Huehueocelotl" which is my self-chosen surname, does not mean "fire jaguar" as I thought but "ancient jaguar".
Still works for me, given that I took it as a second warrior name before I went to Ft. Jackson.
Not much to say. I go to work, still like my job, come home and pack. I'm moving to the new offices with them, so I'm hoping they make me permanent after the holiday. It would make sense for them to not do it before because that way, they don't have to pay me for the holiday, since it's two days. I'm still somewhat uneasy; the universe has been kind to us for the past four weeks but I still don't trust it yet.

Date: 2006-11-14 03:41 am (UTC)I think "ancient jaguar" sounds coolier....but what the hey....
Homw come you don't go active? We can always use more good soldiers.....women especially....specially in a war/conflict that I believe will help redifine women's roles in combat/military. For all the suffering and loss, I feel this war is showing how truly equal women are in operations.
Anyways.....as we heathens believe.....a gift deserves a gift....if you get good luck, you have to give good. If you give good, you get good. Maybe you're getting payback for something you guys have done well in. :) Here's hoppping.

Date: 2006-11-14 05:20 am (UTC)I'd agree with you about womens' roles in combat being redefined if it weren't for this "LALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU," reaction from the federal government. Women are in combat every day, but there's this ongoing denial that it's happening. Even if women soldiers are out there fighting and being treated like soldiers by the men, I still hear that women can't be combat troops (even if in reality they are) because men won't accept them (even if in reality they do). You can't fight that kind of willful ignorance.
I'm always trying to do the right thing, take care of other people, make the world a better place, etc. I want to know what I did to deserve 10 months of being crapped on, then. It's hard to believe the nightmare that's been 2006 *might* be over.
